All the colours of the rainbow - their very popular Tote bag.
Goyard, established in 1792, is the oldest Parisian trunk maker still in business. It has been passed down from generation to generation up until today under the successive names of Martin, Morel and finally Goyard. They are still
on 233 rue Faubourg St. Honoré in Paris, the most fashionable street in the great city that I adore! As well as black, their totes come in 12 different colours.
A timeless and perennial range,
distancing itself from fleeting trends, Goyard draws its inspiration from its exceptional heritage. Its timeless designs will appeal to discerning customers looking for uncompromising exclusivity, unparalleled craftsmanship and aesthetic refinement.
Goyard products do not change every season: in a disposable society, they are meant to last.
Goyard offers 4 distinct product lines:
Large choice of handbags: briefcases, wallets, clutches for men and women.
3. Special orders:
4. Pet accessories:
They are made of a natural fibre canvas,
The Goyardine, an iconic canvas, was made with cloth, although its appearance is very similar to leather. Goyard uses three plant fibres: hemp, linen and cotton. Hemp is particularly sought after for its hydrophobic qualities, linen is a fine thermal
regulator, and the softness of the linen probably caught the attention of the trunk maker.
Like all family secrets, the exact manufacturing process of the Goyardine remains strictly confidential. BUT……..what
we do know………is that the manufacturing process of the canvas requires a ground-colour application followed by 3 successive layers of etching colours. The trademark slightly raised pattern of the Goyardine results from both the cloth
and the printing technique used during the manufacturing process: the plain weave shows through the Chevron pattern, and superimposes on top of the raised pattern produced by the paint dots. The overall effect is absolutely unique.
little comparison with another brand is always good! I think Goyard totes are very similar to the Louis Vuitton Neverfulls, I of course would want the 2 of them! but they are so similar that choosing one of these bags would be the clever thing to do.
They are both great in wet weather as the rain just slides off them and they are both coated canvas, so they are both great bags for either good or bad weather. The Louis NF is better for carrying heavier items as it is a little more sturdy than the
Goyard Tote, so it is advisable not to carry very very heavy items in this wonderful tote.
The Goyardine bags are hardwearing, soft and waterproof, and their special pink limited edition produced in 2008 have fast become collector’s
I hope you enjoyed a little of the Goyard Family story, rich in it’s family history. Indeed, I really do think it is a remarkable family legacy of talented Excellence.
