Hermès Exhibit Royal Academy of Arts, London
My day in The Royal Academy of Arts was a beautiful one, so excited to see the Hermès creations being
made on site, the girls were so diligent and didn't even look up while they stitched the magnificent calfskin leather with colour matching magnificent threads, diligently and enthusiastically with no concept of the crowds of women in awe around them, that
was the first sigh out of my mouth and onwards to the next partition with a satisfactory smile on my face so ready to see more and move on...............each precious baby in a special glass protected cabinet where no hands could reach, only hungry eyes to
feast on until you reach the next unbelievable bag.................many many vintage - very very old Hermès on show, the first Kelly, the first leather bound notebook, the first piece of luggage dating back to who knows when..................some swinging
from the ceiling and displayed so artistically, I was in awe.................Every Hermès design was on show, in every colour, The Bolide bag, The Constance bag, the Verrou clutch, the Birkin, the Kelly, The Paris-Bombay bag, The Plume bag, the Lindy,
the Jypsière, the Évelyne, the Trim and of course the Star Bags for the Exhibition, in celebration of the opening of its "Leather Forever" show in London and so representing England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales, a tribute to those countries.
The separate leather room on entering the exhibition showed every single skin hide they use, wall to wall on rolls to view......
